A striking Victorian Gothic Revival leather library armchair featuring beautifully carved dragon head arm terminals and deep buttoned leather upholstery.
The chair is constructed with a solid hardwood frame and stands on elegant cabriole legs with carved detailing. The arms terminate in wonderfully sculptural dragon heads, a dramatic and highly decorative feature typical of Gothic Revival furniture of the late 19th century.
The deep buttoned back and generous seat give the chair both comfort and presence, while the aged leather has developed a rich patina through years of use.
Originally designed for libraries, studies and gentlemen’s clubs, chairs of this type are now highly sought after as statement pieces in interiors.
The combination of carved gothic detailing and warm worn leather makes this a particularly characterful example.
A superb statement armchair for a study, library or country house interior.
Size: 27" wide x 38" high x seat 21" high
Only one available.
Good antique condition with age-related wear to the leather consistent with use. The wear and patina add to the authentic character of the chair. Structurally solid and comfortable.
