A striking pair of antique hand carved wooden architectural pillars from the Swat valley featuring beautiful deep relief floral and foliate carving.
These impressive posts were originally structural elements, most likely forming part of a veranda, temple frontage or large doorway frame. The craftsmanship is exceptional, with intricate repeating floral motifs and geometric borders carved by hand.
The heavy timber and wonderful time-worn surface give the pieces fantastic character and presence. The natural ageing, tool marks and weathering all contribute to their authentic antique appearance.
Today these pillars make superb decorative architectural features and are increasingly used by interior designers, hotels and restaurants to create dramatic interior spaces.
They could be incorporated into a doorway, used as statement decorative pieces, or displayed as sculptural elements in a hallway or garden room.
A rare and highly decorative pair with real presence.
